WNC Regional Air Quality Offices Are Open to the Public

 

The WNC Regional Air Quality Agency offices at 52 Coxe Ave. and 30 Valley St. are open to the public. In accordance with Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Order 215, social distancing requirements, capacity limits, and mask mandates in most settings have been lifted in Buncombe County. Unvaccinated individuals are recommended to continue to wear face coverings.

If we do not respond to the doorbell, please leave a message at 828.250.6777 or email us at wncair@buncombecounty.org. A staff member will contact you as soon as possible.

Alternative means of accessing our services are available, and the public is encouraged to continue to use services via those platforms when possible.

Asbestos, Demolition and Removal/Renovation Permits are being issued from Permitting and Inspections at 30 Valley Street. Please contact Mike Matthews at (828) 250-6776 or mike.matthews@buncombecounty.org to obtain a permit. The application is available as a fillable pdf on our website herePermit applications can be emailed to Mr. Matthews or left in the box in front of the 30 Valley St., Buncombe County Permit office. 

The ambient air quality monitoring network continues to be fully operational.
